On Thursday, September 1, 2022, our team visited the Special Correctional Centre for Boys in Oregun to raise awareness about fundamental human rights through our "My Rights, My Freedom" project.
During the visit, we conducted a legal clinic where children without legal representation had the opportunity to speak with our lawyers, who took their briefs. Many of the children shared their struggles with understanding court proceedings and recounted personal experiences that they did not recognize as violations of their rights. Often, these abuses had become normalized to them due to the influence of their abusers.
While we left the center deeply moved by the heartbreaking stories we encountered, we were also gratified to have provided these children with a new perspective and renewed hope for a better future.
