Headfort Foundation a team of female lawyers with the aim of decongesting Nigerian prisons by providing free legal services to wrongly incarcerated inmates makes a monthly visit to the Nigerian Correctional Service to take up cases of indigent inmates and represent them in court.
Today Aljazeera made a trip to the Ikoyi prison Lagos with Headfort Foundation’s Lawyers where they were able to speak to some inmates whose matters are still before the court. In this interview, the lawyers explained the challenges they face in representing the defendants due to the slow Justice system in Nigeria but that does not deter them as the goal is still to decongest the overly congested prisons in Lagos and Nigeria at Large.
