Yusuf, a 25-year-old man from Ogun State, Nigeria moved to Lagos state in 2014 and got employed as a driver. On the 21st day of October 2020, Yusuf was going home after the day’s work when he was accosted by some Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) members as one of the Endsars protesters. He was taken to Area G police Station where he was kept at the police cell before he was charged to court.
On the same day, Suleiman, 18 years old from Kano State, Nigeria was on his way to work when he was arrested at Pen cinema, Agege for partaking in the Endsars protest.
In the same manner as Yusuf, Toheeb, 25 years old who hails from Kwara State left home for work as a conductor when he was arrested by OPC members for partaking in the Endsars Protest.
At the Police Station, these three young men met each other for the first time and all explanations by them to the police that they never partook in the protest fell on deaf ears. Thus, Yusuf, Suleiman and Toheeb were charged to court for `Conspiracy, Arson and Robbery'.
On arraignment on the 14th day of December 2020, due to the offence they were charged with, the Court did not admit them to bail but remanded them in custody until DPP's legal advice is out.
