Taye was arrested and charged to court based on a report from his biological brother. Subsequently, he was remanded in prison pending trial. However, our lawyer identified the familial nature of the issue and proposed that it could be resolved outside of court.
After careful consideration, both the court and the complainant agreed with our lawyer’s suggestion to pursue restorative justice. Consequently, the court dismissed the charge against Taye on the 2nd of May, 2024.
We strongly advocate for the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution, restorative justice, and other diversionary measures by the court instead of resorting to remands and imprisonment. These approaches can lead to more amicable resolutions and prevent unnecessary incarceration.
