On June 21, 2024, Mr. Alfred, a 72-year-old security personnel, was arrested for alleged negligence leading to missing items at the company where he worked. After two days of detention, he was brought before the court on June 23 along with three other defendants. While they were granted bail pending trial, they were remanded in prison.
Mr. Alfred’s who could barely walk is indigent and in bad condition, hence could not perfect the bail condition.
Our lawyer based at the Abeokuta Mobile office swiftly took action upon learning of the case. With the financial support from @fecyfoundation, we were able to secure Mr. Alfred’s bail. He was reunited with his family on July 1, 2024, after spending a week in prison.
Efforts are underway to resolve the matter with the company, utilizing a restorative justice approach. The case has been adjourned to July 17, 2024.
