On June,21 2024 Dada,Emmanuel,Tunde,Ramon,Confidence,Fawas and Yusuf were going about their different daily activities in Ikorodu, Lagos when they were arrested by the Police and detained for three days without any reason for the arrest.
On june 24, 2024 they were arraigned at the Ikorodu magistrate court and charged with the offense of wandering. The court granted them bail but they were unable to meet the bail conditions due to financial constraints and their inability to secure a surety resulting to them spending two months in prison.
Our lawyer stationed in our Justice Hub in Ikorodu met them during a routine visit to the court cell, took on their case and provided them with legal representation.
The case suffered multiple adjournments due to the absence of the IPO who is also the witness in the case.
On the 22nd of August 2024, Our lawyer applied for the case to be struck out for lack of diligent prosecution and the application was granted.
The plight of these individuals highlights the importance of legal support for those in need. Headfort Foundation for Justice is dedicated to helping people who are unjustly stuck in the Nigerian Justice system.
